What does the Latest Global Climate Outlook Reveal?

Understanding the current global climate landscape is essential for any organisation committed to long-term resilience. According to the Emission Gap Report 2025 from UNEP, global emissions are projected at a range of 51-62 GtCO₂e by 2030 under current policies. This is much higher than the range of 19-29 GtCO₂e needed by 2030 to stay on track with the 1.5°C target, thereby highlighting a mismatch between climate commitments and actual implementation, largely due to human activities.

For many of us, navigating this emissions gap comes down to accountability. How can this be done? It starts with building a clear understanding of where things stand. With consistent measurement and reporting, organisations can create a solid foundation to guide decisions and shape their climate strategies.
