In March the International Panel for Climate Change, the global research organisations who brings out regular updates on our current global climate state published the sixth Assessment report.
Some quotes that we find striking:
Human-caused climate change is already affecting many weather and climate extremes in every region across the globe. This has led to widespread adverse impacts and related losses and damages to nature and people (high confidence).
Challenges from delayed adaptation and mitigation actions include the risk of cost escalation, lock-in of infrastructure, stranded assets, and reduced feasibility and effectiveness of adaptation and mitigation options (high confidence).
Many mitigation actions would have benefits for health through lower air pollution, active mobility (e.g., walking, cycling), and shifts to sustainable healthy diets.
Adaptation can generate multiple additional benefits such as improving agricultural productivity, innovation, health and wellbeing, food security, livelihood, and biodiversity conservation (very high confidence)
“Effective governance provides overall direction on setting targets and priorities and mainstreaming climate action across policy domains and levels,
Climate resilient development is enabled by increased international cooperation, improve access to financial resources, integrated governance and coordinated policies.
The World Resource Institute made a good summary which you can find here and the full summary report can be found here.
The Report confirms that our services to our customers are more relevant than ever, namely to provide the tools and capacity to assess the contribution and impacts of climate change and moving forward to make positive changes to the company but also to the Planet.
