Making AI Work for Us, Not the Other Way Around

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the way organisations operate. According to the latest McKinsey Global Survey on the State of AI, 78 percent of respondents report that their organisations now use AI in at least one business function.

Yet, the path to adoption is not without its challenges. A 2024 Statista survey highlights several common barriers to implementing AI effectively. These include regulatory, legal, ethical and compliance concerns, limited understanding of AI’s potential, shortage of skilled talent, and the technical complexity of integration. The findings underline the importance of establishing clear governance and responsible usage frameworks to ensure that AI contributes positively to organisational goals.

At Tri Hita Consulting, we recognise that AI’s potential must be balanced with strong safeguards. In response to its growing use across our daily work, we have developed an AI Policy and AI Whitelist. These documents provide practical guidance on the dos and don’ts of AI usage. It is designed to promote data security, uphold confidentiality, and encourage responsible engagement with emerging AI tools.

To support implementation, we held an AI Workshop last week, where the policy and whitelist was introduced and discussed across teams. The session explored how AI can support day-to-day tasks such as brainstorming while maintaining ethical standards and data integrity.

One of the highlights was a hands-on exercise on crafting effective prompts. Participants were divided into small groups to experiment with different prompting frameworks, compare results, and evaluate the relevance and quality of AI-generated outputs. The exercise not only strengthened participants’ technical familiarity but also deepened their understanding of how to engage with AI thoughtfully and critically.

By embedding good practices early, we hope to foster a culture where technology serves as a tool for creativity and efficiency. This must be achieved without compromising trust or data protection.
