Bank Indonesia’s launch of Green Calculator v.2 marks an important milestone in strengthening Indonesia’s sustainability ecosystem. Designed specifically for Banks and businesses, the nationally standardised tool provides organisations with a practical and credible starting point for measuring greenhouse gas emissions. As more organisations are expected to understand and disclose their environmental impact, having a consistent methodology is becoming increasingly important.
Compared with the previous version, Green Calculator v.2 offers broader emissions coverage, improved methodologies, and greater accessibility. It enables users to calculate Scope 1, Scope 2, Scope 3, and Scope 4, which captures emission reductions from renewable energy, electric vehicles, and carbon offsets. The methodology is also aligned with internationally recognised frameworks including the GHG Protocol, IPCC guidelines, ISO 14064-1:2018, and PCAF.
For many Banks and businesses, Green Calculator v.2 is an excellent starting point for their emissions measurement journey, especially for businesses due to the limited scope at this tools. However, measuring emissions is only one part of the process. The real value lies in understanding what the results mean, identifying emissions hotspots, developing practical decarbonisation strategies, and communicating progress effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
At Tri Hita Consulting, we support organisations beyond emissions calculation. From interpreting emissions data and identifying reduction opportunities to developing climate strategies, we help organisations translate measurement into meaningful action as part of Indonesia’s transition.
